The photo is of the snow covered Nativity Scene on the front lawn of Graceland, Memphis, Tennessee, taken in 2002. Elvis would have this put in place every year for passers by to see, as a reminder of what Christmas is all about; the birth of Jesus, when love came down to earth.
Perhaps another name for Christmas could be “Here is Love” the title of a lovely hymn I have just discovered, which puts Christmas into perspective
Here Is Love
Here is love wide as the ocean
Loving kindness as a flood
When the Prince of Life, our ransom
Shed for us His precious blood
Who His love will not remember?
Who can cease to sing His praise?
He can never be forgotten
Throughout Heaven’s eternal days
~~
On the mount of crucifixion
Fountains opened deep and wide
Through the floodgates of God’s mercy
Flowed a vast and gracious tide
Grace and love like mighty rivers
Poured incessant from above
And Heaven’s peace and perfect justice
Kissed a guilty world in love
Written by William Rees (1802– 1883)
May you experience the wonderful love of the Lord Jesus, now and always
God bless you
